Horace attended Neville High School in Monroe,Ouachita Parish,LA and Moody Bible Institute, he was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1938.
On July 26, 1944 he entered the U.S. Army and served with Company L, 289th Infantry Regiment, 75 Infantry Division in France as a machine gunner and Oise Intermediate Section as a clerk at Camp Washington Laon, France. Horace was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, European Theatre Ribbon with Campaign Stars, Good Conduct Medal and WW II Victory Medals and Ribbons.
After the war Horace served as pastor for churches in Louisiana and Mississippi from 1949-1982, retiring from Roxie Baptist Church. He served as interim pastor at two churches until his death in 1984. Horace was also a graduate of Mississippi College, 1953, with Honors.
